Over the years, these establishments — many of which operate under the name Tokyo Day Spas — have gained a reputation for offering sexual services.

For most other Presidents it would have been. I can only imagine the Republican reaction were President Obama caught taking pictures with foreign born Democratic PAC contributors who just happened to own escort agencies. And it would only get worse if one of President Obama's best buddies was busted in a no-tell motel after getting busy with a $50/hr hooker. People would want to know who, what, when, were and how. If people believed that President Obama was having adulterous sex with adult film stars or Playboy models we would never hear the end of it.
Of course one of the most important themes in America and certainly the key thread in Trump's life is that money rules over everything. One lasting result of Trump's victory will be that when you have such big scandals and indifference to normal ethical standards, people ignore the relatively smaller scummy stuff that you do. Yang and people like her buy access to politicians, who don't really care about how they got the money they're spending.
