Police: Shut Up And Submit!!!

It's a source of cynical amusement, frustration, and anger to me how some Americans think that THOSE people should always immediately and cravenly submit to any and all police demands no matter how unreasonable, humiliating, unconstitutional or criminal while reserving for themselves the right to question, debate, defy, reject or resist police orders, whether legal or not. I am not overly fond of the police but it remains prudent advice that unless you are ready, willing and able to take things to that other level with the police and ultimately the state, you won't win most physical confrontations with police officers.

Most people are quick to point that out when police employ violence against Black men or women. Police bootlickers smugly point out that if the Black person had just slavishly complied from the beginning they wouldn't have been shot, tased, assaulted, pepper-sprayed, beaten senseless, or curb stomped. Somehow though this critical insight seems to leave them when they are the ones being bullied or harassed by police officers on a power trip.

A Staten Island man says he’s proud of his family’s support for the NYPD — but that all changed after a rowdy caught-on-camera clash with cops outside his family’s bagel shop. Both Awadeh Nemer, 30, and police agree the Nov. 5 melee erupted about 12:30 a.m. outside Diddle Dee Bagels on Richmond Road in Dongan Hills after two officers on traffic enforcement asked to see Nemer’s ID. He refused, and was arrested. Who was being disorderly is where they disagree.
Nemer insisted he was at the bagel shop to to help his family in case there were any tensions after the presidential vote Nov. 3. But he didn’t appreciate an unmarked car with tinted windows in the parking lot sending out “weird noises, like animal noises” from its speaker system.

Nemer said he assumed the occupants were kids. They were two uniformed NYPD officers. “I’m like, ‘Guys keep it down, it’s 12:30 in the morning,” he said he screamed. “I was being loud, yes. ‘Guys, be quiet — people are sleeping.’” The car pulled away, then circled back — and out popped the officers. One told Nemer he was getting arrested. “Getting arrested?” Nemer asked with a laugh. “What crime?”

Nemer said his family, which also runs a pizzeria and a food distribution company, regularly donates to police causes — and is aware how difficult police work can be. But he insisted he didn’t do anything wrong and didn’t want to hand over his ID. Then things got ugly.

Watch the video to see just how entitled Nemer and his friends are.

I don't say who was right and who was wrong here, but I will note that Nemer lost the confrontation just as the cops said he would. He was arrested, just as the cops said he would be. And obviously, they got his id, just as they said that they would. It looks like it was an 0-3 night for Nemer.

Then there was this:

“Not fighting,” Nemer yelled repeatedly. Nemer charges he had to be treated for bruises from a volley of punches thrown at him. After Nemer was issued a desk appearance ticket and released, he went home and spit up blood, he said. He said he’d recently had ulcer and hernia surgery, and alleged that getting kicked in the gut during the clash triggered the bleeding.

Nemer added that he’s seeing a therapist, and claims he has to pull over whenever he spots a cop car. “It’s stressing me out,” he said.

Well that's a shame. Imagine that. One bad experience with the police and this fellow has to see a therapist for stress. He pulls over to avoid police. Aww. Toughen up buttercup. It's not like you're a Black man or anything. Maybe in the future instead of blindly supporting cops you might be more sympathetic to your fellow citizens of a different color who have critiques of how SOME cops behave. LINK
