A Colorado landlord who was caught on home surveillance cameras having sex in his tenants' bed pleaded guilty to trespassing last week. Carlos Quijada-Lara was filmed breaking in to the $1,100-a-month apartment of married couple Logan Pierce and Mikaela DiGiulio in Colorado Springs last November to have sex on their bed with another man. He was unaware that the couple had installed a surveillance camera in their bedroom which recorded the romp.
Last week, 39-year-old Quijada-Lara pleaded guilty to felony trespassing in a deal with prosecutors, The Smoking Gun reports. He is due to be sentenced at a later date. In November last year, Pierce and DiGiulio were both at work when he received a message on his phone from the app which is linked to the surveillance cameras. It had detected unusual activity in his bedroom and was triggered to alert him.
It depends on the state but usually the landlord is supposed to provide advance notice and reason for entering a rental property. I know some people who are sufficiently protective of their privacy that they will go out of their way to make sure that they are home whenever the landlord or his representatives need to enter. That makes more sense to me now. Presumably Pierce and his wife have moved. I hope they got their security deposit back and weren't charged any cleaning fee. I am happy that I no longer rent. Who knows how many other tenants were having their homes used as happy hotels by this creep. LINK
